Beer fans will flock to Mount Hope Estate in Lancaster County Saturday, May 15, for unlimited beer sampling, free food and live music. It's a celebration of all that is ale at the second annual BrewFest at Mount Hope featuring over thirty microbreweries from all across America sampling their finest trademark ales and seasonal favorites.
The BrewFest salutes microbreweries who have transformed their love of beer into a passionate business. The list of participating breweries includes many local PA favorites and breweries from the East and West coasts. The festival is broken into two separate sessions, each lasting four hours in length. The first session is scheduled from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M. and the second is from 4:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. Beer fans can sample and learn about a variety of beers ranging from lagers to pilsners, porters to stouts, fruit beers to wheat beers and everything in between.
The Food
No beer festival would be complete without food to be paired along the brews. At the BrewFest, beer fans will enjoy a variety of pub foods at three all-you-can-eat buffets featuring: Pork Barbeque, Binkert's Garlic Bratwurst, Hot Dogs, Smoked Brisket, Smoked Chicken Chili, Potato Salad, and Garden Pasta Salad.
The Music
Live Americana, Folk and Rock music from four high-energy bands will create a festive soundtrack to the BrewFest. The band Shots McGee, billed as Central PA's only Irish, Classic Rock Party band, will pair original music and covers of Classic Rock favorites to liven up the festival. Equipped with the innate ability to win over a crowd, The Mark DeRose Band, will bring their brand of "feel-good" music that will appeal to a wide variety of listeners. Winner of the first Delfest Bluegrass Band Contest in May 2009, Vinegar Creek Constituency will channel the venerable ghosts of the American Folk tradition through inventive, imaginative original songs delivered with rock'n'roll intensity. The Mint will round out the entertainment lineup with their boisterous rock and sunny day swagger and swing filled with unforgettable melodies and catchy hooks.
A Side of Fun
Other entertainments for the festival will include a keynote speaker, a tour of the onsite Swashbuckler Brewery with Brewmaster, Mark Braunwarth, the ride-the-keg rodeo challenge ride, plus festival goers can shop among a host of vendors offering the best in beer gear and merchandise from t-shirts to home brewing kits. An AHA/BJCP sanctioned Homebrew Competition will also be occurring during the festival for local homebrewers to enter their best and most unique brews for the chance to win the grand prize, the opportunity to brew with Swashbuckler's Brewmaster, Mark Braunwarth, to create a specialty beer to be sampled at the 2011 BrewFest.
